About Me
Home lab notes from Garrett Dees: Unraid servers, hardware passthrough, and self-hosted software, documented while they still make sense.
Hi, I'm Garrett.
This site is my home lab notebook. Every time I reconfigure a server, chase down a weird boot issue, or find a hacky-but-elegant workaround, I document it here so I don't have to rediscover it six months later.
My setup revolves around an Unraid server that hosts a CachyOS virtual machine with GPU, SSD, and USB controller passthrough, plus whatever else finds its way onto the network. Expect posts on virtualization, hardware passthrough, power management, self-hosted software, and the occasional tweak to this very blog, which runs on Ghost.
Nothing here is groundbreaking. It's real configurations from a real homelab, written down while they still make sense to me. If reading it saves you an evening of troubleshooting, even better.
By day, I work as a Software Engineer. If you'd like to see my background in more detail, grab my CV or Resume, find me on LinkedIn, or checkout my code on GitHub.
Feel free to reach out if a post helped you out, or if you spotted something I got wrong.
